@ho-shuhuang When you don't feel like doing anything at all, a small step makes all the difference. Thank you for reminding me of this today.
A strong will alone will not help you overcome a mental health condition. You cannot simply get over it. I think this is well established. But it's also important to recognise that the condition will usually not improve without doing anything about it. One has to have a strong will to keep trying to get better by attempting specific things which have been shown to work. This could be everything from taking medication to exercising. The hardest thing sometimes, however, is to muster enough motivation or energy to even try. It's often a case that you know you need to do something but you just don't seem to have the ability to actually do it. You rather just lie in bed. In these cases, small steps is the only way forward. Doing something is better than doing nothing. And sometimes these tiny steps are examples of the strongest will at that point in time even though they may seem trivial. We need to recognise that.
